Kaden Andrew Rhodes was born on the 15th april 2006 after an agonising 44 hour labour, and died on
the 27th march 2007. It was two and half weeks before his first birthday.
He was my only child and my life revolved around him. Right from the start he was very forward with
everything he did. He was eatin solids at 5 n half month as well as crawling by then too. He was
even walking round the furniture at 6 n half months he just love to get to everything. The only
thing he wasn't forward in was getting his teeth. Even when he passed away at 11 months he didn't
have any but his gums made up for them.
Kaden was diagnosed with APML Leukaemia on 20th february 2007 at 10 months old. This was an adult
form and the youngest they'd ever seen it in was a 10 years old. But he was given an 80 percent
chance of survival.
He still tried carrying on as the happy child he was by putting his tongue out at the nurses when
they came in and trying to take there stethascope off them. He was always playful and happy.
After 4 weeks and one course of chemotherapy his body had had enough. He developed a common side
effect to the chemotherapy, which was mucilitus. He ended up in intensive care as he had to be
revived in front of me and his daddy. HOW TORTURING those 20 mins were.
He lost his battle the week after on the 27th march,2007 at 21.10 due to us having to make the
hardest decision of our life and turn his life support machine off.
We did this because all his organs had failed because of the mucilitus and the Leukaemia had
returned in a more aggressive force. It wasn't fair for him to suffer anymore than he had already
Our lives just exist now he was the center of our world and now we feel we have nothing in our
lives. Unfortunately me and his daddy split before all this happened and helped each other through
this difficult time at the hospital.
Kaden was a much loved boy as we had a big family and not a day goes by that none of us don't think
about him. His auntie kayleigh and uncle lewis are only 7 and he was the center of attention with
them all the time. Playing and messing up nannies house while my and daddy worked. But no one ever
complained. Grandad Dave came over to see you ever other weekend to see you as he lived a bit away
but always came with a gift for you, mainly noisy toys so you could drive you mummy and daddy mad.
Grandad just found that funny. You had so many aunties and uncles that i cant mention them all at
once but i will eventually do so darling

What kind of place would heaven be with all its streets of gold, if all the souls, that dwell up there like yours and mine, were old? How strange would heaven’s music sound when harps begin to ring, if children were not gathered ‘round to help the angels sing. The children that God sends to us are only just a loan, He knows we need their sunshine to make the house a home. We need the inspiration of a baby’s blessed smile. He doesn’t say they’ve come to stay, just lends them for a while. Sometimes it takes them years to do the work for which they come. Sometimes in just a month or two our Father calls them home. I like to think some souls up there bear not one sinful scar. I love to think of heaven as a place where children are.

but knowing that you now have wings
helps to ease the pain
We know now when the snow falls
it is angel dust from you
and when we see a shooting star
our angel just passed through
The rain drops do not make us sad
for they are not tears
but sprinkles of love falling down
our angel again is near
The winter cold has even changed
Jack Frost no longer exists
it's now a visit from our angel
and he's left a special gift
You also visit in the night
your wings flutter with grace
we know now when we awaken
that an angel has kissed our face
When the days are warm and bright
and the sun shines from above
we feel the warmth wrap around us
you've given an angel hug
You are with us at all times
every day and night
you try to end the pain we have
and the tears that we still cry
